I am making plans to move from Atlanta to Dallas/Ft Worth area real soon and I need some advice. Every state has crime, every state has low income housing areas. I am trying to live far from that area but do not want to live deep in the suburbs.

Any suggestions? I never been to the state in my life so this will be a big transition for me, different time zone....but I will be close to my favorite NFL team! (Go Cowboys!) My husband got a job offer in Ft Worth, on which he is taking it of course. But we need help! All answers are greatly appreciated!

  1. I live in Euless, which is about 20 minutes from Fort Worth.  We have low crime, and alot of nice parks.  Also, Bedford is nice.  If you have kids or are going to, the school district is great.  Euless and Bedford both have apartments and houses in all price ranges.  Stay away from Arlington (high crime).  Hurst is okay, Grapevine and Southlake are nice, but a little more expensive.  Good luck, and welcome to Texas!

  2. north dallas has less crime is not in the suburbs and is nice, i mean far north dallas , some places in north dallas are like the hood. places like preston and campbell and the dallas north tollway area are nice.

  3. I was actually looking at a survey that other day, and Rockwall, TX had no murders in the last year. That is a really safe and rich city to live in, but it's not too close to Ft Worth. Closer to that are I would say Richland Hills. I live In Garland, which is like an hour from Ft Worth so i really don't know what the area is like. Cities to avoid would Oak Cliff and Pleasant Grove. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  4. My family was like you two years ago.  My hubby had a job transfer to Ft. Worth, we had never visited Texas or knew anyone in the area.  What me and my hubby did was talk to co workers about where the good areas are. Consulting with a great Real Estate Agent is helpful, get referrals from your hubby's boss and co-workers. Perhaps you will be connected with an agent as part of your relocation package.   North Dallas and Far North Fort Worth are nice. The Dallas area is busier and therefore traffic can be a nightmare.   I live in North East Tarrant County, most people would consider this deep in the suburbs. What I like about where I live is I'm between Dallas and Ft. Worth.
