Dallas Mavericks 53 – Miami Heat 51: NBA Finals Game-6 Halftime Analysis
Jason Terry pounded 19 points as the Dallas Mavericks led the Miami Heat 53-51 at halftime in the sixth game of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals 2011.
Shawn Marion also scored eight points but Dirk Nowitzki could not perform well and chipped in with three points in the first half of the game, shooting a paltry 1-of-12 from the field. Miami were led by LeBron James, who scored
11 points. Dwayne Wade punctuated nine points, while guard Mario Chalmers posted seven points till the intermission.
First Quarter
King James started with purpose and hit a terrific three-pointer at the start of the show to give the Heat a lead early in the first quarter. Both teams then played a close game for the next two minutes of the quarter and the score
reached 10-8 with 08:46 to go in the frame. However, the home team scored the next eight points of the quarter to take a 16-10 advantage.
Miami continued to grab every available opportunity to score and made it 22-15 midway. Dallas however launched a counter assault at that point. Terry nailed in a jumper, followed it with a three-pointer and Brian Cardinal then
knocked down a 3 in the next two minutes to put the Mavs ahead by 23-22. Udonis Haslem jammed the rim on the next possession to give Miami a one-point edge with 03:11 left. The Mavericks were not done for the quarter though and went on a 9-3 run in the last
two and half minutes to gain a 32-27 lead after 12 minutes.
Second Quarter
Dallas continued to play with an aggressive attitude and gained the lead 40-28, capped by DeShawn Stevenson’s consecutive three-pointers. Miami responded hard though and scored the next 14 straight points of the quarter to take
a 42-40 advantage 06:25 to go in the first half. They continued to lead the Mavs in the passage that followed and Wade’s driving lay-up produced a three-point gap with 03:25 left for halftime.
Terry came into action again that point. He dropped two daggers from downtown followed by two jumpers to put Dallas ahead by 51-49 with 33 seconds to remaining in the second. Dallas scored another two in the ensuing stretch before
Chalmers hit a pair of free throw to cut Heat’s deficit to two, 53-52, at halftime.
