Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki show frustration over defeats from Portland Trail Blazers: NBA Play-offs Update
The Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki showed frustration over their recent two shocking defeats from the Portland Trail Blazers in the best-of-seven of the first round play-off series. The Blazers thrashed the Mavericks in their last two games and tied the series with 2-2.
The epic 84-82 defeat in the Game 4 left the Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki even more frustrated as he stated in the media. Nowitzki said, “Frustration is definitely at a high level, there is a huge difference from being up 3-1 and 2-2. This is definitely up there with the most frustrating losses.”
The 32-year-old, Nowitzki has never won a championship in his 13-years' NBA career. The regular NBA season of 2010-2011 again proved an elevated year for the Dallas Mavericks as they qualified comfortably in the play-offs grabbing the third position in the Western Conference. But the post NBA season always troubled the Mavericks as this very fact has also barred the All-Star Nowitzki to won a Championship.
Before the third play-off game between the Mavericks and the Blazers, the Mavericks were leading the series with 2-0. The chances were very high as the Mavericks would sweep this first round series, but soon they realised the fact that their opponent is much tougher, the Blazers overpowered the Mavericks in two straight games.
The Blazers astonishingly won the third game with 97-92 on Thursday night At Rose Garden. Wesley Matthews posted 25 points and snatched a fabulous victory for the Blazers and helped his team to make a incredible comeback in the series 2-1. The Blazers’ Brandon Roy also proved his performance with his amazing 16 points and four assists after coming off the bench and prepared himself for the next encounter. The very next match was truly architected by Brandon Roy where he scored 24 points for the Blazers and helped his team defeat the Mavericks with 84-82 and tied the series at 2-2.
The Blazers and especially Gerald Wallace is now more determined to out-do the Dallas Mavericks in the next game when he said, “Game 5 is the pivotal game; the advantage is tilted their way because they’re at home. But we’ve got the momentum on the court.”
The home court advantage will certainly provide the Mavericks a slight edge over the Blazers as Nowitzki also mention this fact in the media and said, “We just have to stay positive, Two out of three we’re at home, where our crowd has really carried us, especially in the fourth quarter in the two wins that we got. This is going to sting; this is going to hurt, but we worked hard all through the regular season to get those two at home.”
The Mavericks on the other hand are also hoping to do well despite their recent poor performance as they will be meeting the Blazers at their home court in Dallas on Monday night.
