June 2nd: Dallas Mavericks 95 – Miami Heat 93 (Game-2)
Playing at the American Airlines Arena, the Dallas Mavericks inflicted an astounding fourth quarter meltdown on the Miami Heat to tie the NBA Final series 1-1.
The Heat were impressively led by their invincible trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh throughout the game as they provided a massive 15 points advantage to the team with less than seven minutes remaining in the final
buzzer. Before Miami could finish the game with a comprehensive win, the Mavericks initiated a scoring rampage in the defining moments to overpower the irresistible might of Miami.
The prolific bench player Jason Terry Started the action for Mavericks as the influential Dirk Nowitzki rallied with back to back jump shot, layup shots and 3-pointer to marshal the Mavericks for an exhilarating 95-93 win.
Dallas’ coach Rick Carlisle said after an exciting comeback, "Just hang in. Let's get some stops. Let's give ourselves a chance. Let's put some pressure on them. We really hadn't put any pressure on them at all in two games to
speak of ... but by being solid and getting a couple of stops and scoring, we got some momentum and it worked out."
Nowitzki was once again the top performer for the Mavericks as he ended the game with 24 points, 11 boards and 4 assists.
June 12th: Dallas Mavericks 105 – Miami Heat 95 (Game-6)
Right from the beginning of the Dirk Nowitzki’s influential era, the Dallas Mavericks have been hoping to become the champions in the world of NBA. 12th June 2011 was the historic day in the Mavericks franchise history
when they were one win away from clinching their first ever NBA championship title.
Fuelled with the determination to become the NBA champs, the Mavericks utterly dominated the proceedings throughout the game-6 of the NBA Finals and raced away towards a historic 105-95 victory over the Miami Heat and completed
their resume with an NBA title.
The Mavericks headed out commandingly right from the beginning of the game and clichéd a comprehensive lead early on. The Heat retaliated stoutly in the second quarter and snatched the lead. However Miami’s lead turned out to be
short lived as the Dallas Mavericks swiftly reclaimed the advantage and never looked back.
Jason Terry posted his best performance of the play-offs in the most crucial game as he landed a game-high 27 points to lead the Mavericks for an electrifying win.
Dallas Mavericks power forward Nowitzki who also furnished his resume with a championship ring at last said after the game, “It took so long for us to get here. I don't really know if it would have made a difference [winning in
Miami]. Just this feeling to be on the best team of the world is just indescribable."
