Dallas Mavericks beat Miami Heat 105-95 – NBA Finals Game-6 Second Half Analysis
Third Quarter
The Dallas Mavericks entered the third quarter with a two-point lead over the Miami Heat, 53-51. Dirk Nowitzki clinched a jumper right at the beginning of the third to make the score 55-51. Chalmers responded by pinning a three-pointer
on a dish by LeBron James and Bosh hit a jump shot to propel the Heat, 56-55, over the Mavericks.
At that point, Dallas reeled off a eight point spurt and sprinted to a 63-56 lead. Chris Bosh’s hook bank shot on the next Heat possession and a driving layup in the next attempt however trimmed Miami’s deficit to three points
63-60, with 08:36 to go in the third. This was the time when the guard J.J. Barea and Jason Kidd decided to make an impact.
Barea nailed a mid range jumper and Jason Kidd followed with a shot from long range to stretch the Mavericks’ lead to 68-. A pair of free throw by guard Dwyane Wade and another free throw by Bosh once again cut the Heat’s margin
to three, 68-65 but the Mavs sensed nerves in the Miami camp and they went for the kill. Nowitzki made a three and then a free throw to give the Mavs a 72-65 lead with 03:55 left in the quarter.
Haslem responded for Miami. He scored two free throws and then slipped in a jumper to make it a four-point contest. The Mavericks were in no mood to relent though and went on a 7-3 run in the last two minutes to take an 81-72 advantage
into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Staring at a potential exit from the series, Miami made quick inroads early into the fourth and scored the first five points to close the gap at 77-81. The Mavericks reverberated and scored the next eight straight points of the
quarter to widen their lead to 89-77. The Mavs spurt took the life out of the Miami camp. Miami stumbled as Wade missed a three-pointer. Chalmers however made a three point play to bridge the gap by 89-80 with 07:38 left in the game.
The gap that the Mavs had created was a little too big though. Dallas never let go of the lead and kept pacing forward with more shots in the last seven minutes of the final quarter. The celebration on the Dallas bench started
one minute before the game finished as the Mavs romped to their first NBA Title ever.
