Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry optimistic about the 2011-2012 season – NBA Update
Jason Terry, the Dallas Mavericks veteran guard is one of those players in the league, who has an opinion about everything and he certainly isn’t shy about expressing it. So, nearly three weeks into the NBA Lockout, it was sort
of surprising that Terry didn’t come up with a piece of his mind.
The silence was broken recently though when the ‘JET’ expressed his optimistic about the 2011-2012 season taking place. At the same time though, he acknowledged the potential delay in start due to a thorn in the form of a new Collective
Bargaining Agreement or CBA.
Terry was confident that the NBA lockout will not wipe out the games completely.
"I don't see us not having a season next year. I'm very optimistic. Potential delay is definitely out there, but we have to train as if there's going to be a season. We know what we are now. We are champions. Everybody already
was gunning for the Mavericks and they will be again."
The National Basketball Association locked out its players on the 1st of July after the expiration of the old CBA. Since then, there has been an air uncertainty, which has compelled many NBA players, including stars
like Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade to consider an overseas option.
The 33-year -old Terry though has no plans to shift his talent somewhere else. Jason stated that he understands that the financial circumstances have bound the players to find employment overseas. However, for Terry, staying with
the Champions Dallas Mavericks and defending the honour is worth all the money in the world.
"I'm not even looking. My season next year's going to be with the Mavericks. All the money in the world couldn't amount to being a champion and being able to defend that title next year." Terry said.
Terry had a terrific post season last time, one which eventually resulted him and the Mavericks getting their hands on the first ever NBA title. He was simply unstoppable late in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat and after
initially struggling against LeBron James; he cut loose and capped a glorious season with a game-high 27 points in the series deciding game-6.
