Dallas Mavericks is the perfect place for Dwight Howard if he plans to make a shift – NBA Feature
The NBA champions Dallas Mavericks were a complete team in every aspect in the last season. This is why the major objective of the team would be to at least retain the best players from the championship line-up in order to contend
for the title fight for the second successive time.
Three main players of Dallas Mavericks will be in the free agency which includes Tyson Chandler, J.J. Bare and Caron Butler. The new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) will however bring in a harder salary cap and luxury tax
and the conditions in the new CBA might hamper the Mavericks to re-sign all of the three players.
The NBA franchise will be looking forward to re-sign the centre at least as Tyson has no comparison and his contribution towards the team’s magical success in the last season was huge.
The only player who can replace the centre position for Dallas Mavericks in the current situation is no other than Orlando Magic’s muscular centre Dwight Howard. If Mavericks can land Howard, which will definitely require the exchange
of Tyson Chandler and a substantial amount of cash, there will be hardly any doubt left in Mavericks becoming the champions for the second straight year.
There is no denying the brilliance and effectiveness of Chandler whose presence marked a dominating impact in the last season and Dallas overpowered whoever came in their way. However, statistically Tyson is not the best player
in NBA considering his average of 10.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game with the team.
In contrast, the gigantic centre Dwight Howards’ numbers are also as lethal as his formidable physical presence on the court. There is no player in NBA who can match the brilliance of Orlando Magic’s superstar physically and aggressively.
This enables Howards to score big every night. Dwight’s last season average of 22.9 points, 14.1 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 1.4 steals per game shows the level of impact Howards bring along with himself.
Seeing Dallas Mavericks sharp-shooter Dirk Nowitzki and Orlando Magic’s big man Dwight Howard together in one team, the opposition will be overwhelmed psychologically.
While Mavericks will be extremely excited to have Howard on board if they get a chance, the burly centre Dwight will be interested to shift his talent into a bigger market where he can accomplish his championship dream.
Three-time reigning NBA Defensive Player of the year Dwight Howard has achieved almost everything quite early in his career except of an NBA title. This is because Orlando has continuously failed to strengthen the supporting cast
of the team to a level which can alleviate some pressure from the big man. Howard is the back bone for the team’s offensive and defensive system and his back and forth play might help Orlando in the regular season. However Howard needs someone to lift the
pressure on the big platform a play-offs is a different ball game where teamwork is the essence of success.
Considering that the Orlando Magic’s salary cap won’t allow them to add a superstar on the roster, Dwight may plan to bow out his contract in the next season. Dallas Mavericks will be a perfect fit for the big man in which each
party will get what they want.
