Dallas Mavericks need Tyson Chandler to be contenders next season - NBA Feature (Part-2)
On-court Presence
While Tyson Chandler’s defensive presence creates a huge impact on the opposition and restricts even the best shooters of the league from taking control, the muscular centre also creates a number of opportunities for its teammates
to keep the score board ticking. On top of that, Chandler himself is an outstanding dunker and there is no stopping for the big man once he enters the paint.
The greatest benefit Dallas Mavericks received with the arrival of Tyson Chandler is that the team became incredibly strong on the rebounds, a thing which they lacked in the previous seasons. In the last season, Chandler averaged
10.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game which shows how much he is involved in every aspect of the game. Through his heroics last season, the Mavs big has created an impact factor and whenever he graces the court again, opposition teams will be wary
and pensive.
Complements Dirk Nowitzki
Dirk Nowitzki is a player with outstanding basketball skills. He is unarguably the best foreign player ever to have graced the league and has been the main reason why the Mavs have made it to the playoffs every time since 2001.
However, all those years, the Mavericks were unable to find a player who could complement the German sharp-shooter. They eventually managed to do that last season and the results were there for all to be seen.
The presence of Chandler not relived Dirk from the defensive pressure, his aggressive game-play also made it easy for the Nowitzki to play more freely. In that context, to say that Nowitzki owes a lot of gratitude to Chandler for
posting his best playoff numbers last time around, will be correct.
Tyson Chandler has proved in his first year with the Mavericks that he is the perfect fit with Nowitzki. If Mavericks are looking forward to continue their championship run in the next season, it can only be done if they have someone
like Tyson alongside Dirk Nowitzki.
Tyson Chandler is the best centre after Dwight Howard
Considering the current situation, it’s almost impossible for Dallas Mavericks to land Orlando Magic centre Dwight Howard – the best centre in the league.
Considering that Mavericks cannot afford to trade a player like Dwight Howard even if he comes into the free market, the franchise has the option to re-sign the second best centre Tyson Chandler.
Here some may argue that Boston Celtics’ Kevin Garnett is the next best option after Howard, but the fact that Garnett is in the finals stages of his career and lacks the kind of agility he once had makes Chandler the best option.
