Dallas Mavericks need a strong shooting guard next season: NBA Feature
The Dallas Mavericks are the new National Basketball Association (NBA) champions and enjoying their grand win in this offseason.
The historic win has however put more pressure on the Mavericks management to ensure that the franchise stays on top in the next season. The Mavericks management has also sufficient time to strengthen its team as the league is
in lockout situation.
At the moment, they need to include a shooting guard for their better future ahead in the league. The Mavericks top executives are still in extreme ambiguous position and are not able to decide which player would be best suited
for their shooting guard position.
The 2011 NBA draft was surprising for many when the Dallas Mavericks made a very quick and inelegant move for a potential shooting guard. Their management was straight away involved with a trade for Rudy Fernandez. The move was
appreciated by many basketball experts and acknowledged the Mavericks management over a very well and futuristic strategy as Fernandez would be a great asset to their franchise.
The main idea of the Mavericks management remained open as they knew after the last season as their guard DeShawn Stevenson would be a free agent and if he decides to leave the franchise, they should better be prepared for the
circumstances when the shooting guard position would be vacant.
Meanwhile, Fernandez has some other plans for his career. He has recently signed a four year deal with a Spanish Basketball Club, Real Madrid that hit the Mavericks management with great force. Fernandez’s signing with an international
basketball team still has some unclear accounts. Firstly the lockout in the NBA provoked him to make deal with an overseas franchise and secondly he too was not sure as how much playing time he would get from the Mavericks. No doubt, the Mavericks were in
need of a shooting guard when they involved themselves in a trade that brought Fernandez into their roster, but untimely lockout in the league ruined their entire strategy which messed up the things in the end.
This unfortunate work stoppage in the league is certainly leaving many other bad impacts on the players too. Many players have decided to leave the United States of America and more importantly the biggest basketball league in
the world for this uncertainly which is threatening a whole NBA season.
On the other hand, no one knows as how long this lockout will prevail in the league as both NBA owners and the players association are showing no progress over resolving the labour issue. The main problem stirred up when the league
owners brought a very irrelevant new Collective Bargaining Agreement which was unacceptable to the players association.
