Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban criticizes league for Chris Paul's trade - NBA Update
Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban had strong reservations about trading Chris Paul from New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers and his opinion is still intact.
According to him, the Hornets made a massive blunder by sending Paul to Clippers in exchange of three players rather than increasing their cap room.
He was present at the American Airlines Centre on Monday night to watch his team take on the Clippers. After the game ended, Cuban showed his displeasure at Paul’s trade, quoting;
"I don't think it was about the Lakers, per se," Cuban said before the game. "I think it was just the way they did the deal, which was ridiculous. I don't think it was about which team. I think it was the fact that, even with the
Clippers, we just went through this whole (collective bargaining agreement) and said the incumbent team still has the advantage and then the team the league owns (wimps) out. And look how it's worked out for them. Bad management gets you bad results."
Hornets are off to a terrible start and the three players Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman and Al Farouq Aminu that they got in the exchange of Paul have been anything but impressive.
By management, Cuban was referring to NBA commissioner David Stern, as Stern is the man responsible for this deal. This deal not only made Hornets weak but is very much against the new Collective Bargaining Agreement which the
owners fought so hard for.
"The whole idea about having most of these rules is that you'd have an advantage and wouldn't have to trade people." Cuban added
The deal although has done wonders for the Clippers. For the first time in their history, the Lob City is appearing as a genuine contender for the championship. The combination of Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Paul has made
them a strrong team and their third seed in the tightly contested Western Conference is a testament to that.
