Dallas Mavericks’ point guard J.J Barea to become a father soon – NBA Update
This year continues to shower its blessing on the Dallas Mavericks’ reserve point guard Jose Juan Barea. The recent development though will change his life forever.
After posting the best performances of his career in the last season and furnishing his resume with the NBA title, the Puerto Rican national is about to become a father. The 27-year-old player has released a statement today to
confirm the news. The mother of the child is Zuleyka Rivera, a former Miss Universe.
"Zuleyka and I are very happy and comfortable with this event. Thank you (for) all the outpouring of support and love we have received and we ask that you allow us to enjoy it in private and in the core of our family."
Barea’s girl friend Zuleyka is a model and actress who received the crown of Miss Universe back in 2006. According to the sources, Rivera was working for an acting project “Passionate Hearts” and she will be leaving the production
as a result of pregnancy.
On having her first child, Zuleyka also stated that she is very happy and is looking forward to start a family with Barea.
"All this took me by surprise, but I feel very lucky. I come from a very close family and I understand that a baby is a blessing. I'm sorry I had to leave this soap opera; it was another opportunity for my growth as an actress
and achieve my professional goals. However, both JJ and I are happy to start a family together” Rivera said.
The Dallas Mavericks superstar played a vital role in marshalling Dallas Mavericks towards their first ever NBA championship against the invincible Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.
Barea averaged 8.9 points, 3.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game, which was his best post-season performance as well. His impressive shooting ability from beyond the arc is what powered the Mavericks down the stretch against the
Miami Heat. The Mavericks forced a couple of astonishing meltdowns on Heat in the series and Barea was right there to support the team in those defining moments of the series.
The NBA is currently is currently in a lockout and the work stoppage will actually favour Dallas Mavericks’ superstar, who will be able to have some quality time with his family.
