Dallas Mavericks rally late to defeat Memphis Grizzlies 95-85:  NBA Recap
Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks broke the 3 game winning streak of the Memphis Grizzlies by defeating them here at the American Airlines Center. Memphis led the Mavericks through the first three
quarters, but ran out of steam in the 4th. They were playing their 3rd game in 3 straight nights and their 4th in 5 days.
"We kept staying ahead, staying ahead, and then right at the end we kind of let go of the rope a little bit. They got the lead and sustained their run. They got a little more aggressive offensively and kept attacking the basket”
said Memphis coach Lionel Hollins after the game.
Memphis led 23-20 going into the 2nd quarter, where they had a 10-2 run to take the lead 40-32. Dallas cut back on the lead to finish the quarter trailing Memphis 47-51.
The third quarter was a low scoring one for both teams, Memphis only managing 17 points in the 12 minutes while Dallas put up 19. The frame was closely contested, as the maximum lead gained by any team was 5 points. Delonte West
had two 3 pointers for the Mavericks and the quarter finished with Memphis leading 68-66.
The 4th quarter was all about the Mavericks, who outscored Memphis 29-17. Between 9:39 and 03:01, the Mavericks went on a 21-4 run to lead 89-77 with 03:01 left in the game.
In that burst, Jason Terry scored a 3 pointer with 04:59 left in the game, which was the 1760th 3 pointer of his career, matching Peja Stojakovic record for 5th place in NBA.
Memphis had no chance coming back from the deficit as they looked tired on the court. Dallas went on to win the game 95-85.
"I think we ran out of gas" said Mike Conley of Memphis.
This was only the third time this season that Dallas had won a game trailing as they entered into the 4th quarter. Shawn Marion scored 16 points and Delonte West added 14, who was 6 of 7 from the field and 2 of 2 from
the 3-point range. Jason Terry also chipped in with15 points from the bench.
O.J Mayo came off the bench to score 17 points for the Grizzlies, including 4 of 5 shooting from beyond the arc, while Marc Gasol had a 10 point-10 rebound double-double.  Dallas as a team shot poorly from 3-point range, going
4 of 15 for the game. Memphis shot 30% in the second half, going 12 of 40 from the field and only managing 34 points.
Dallas is still placed 6th in the West after this win, one spot behind the Grizzlies. The defending champions have one more win than Memphis but the Grizzlies have one less loss. Both teams will see each other again
on Saturday, this time in Memphis, which will be a crucial game in terms of conference standings.
