Dallas Mavericks win the NBA Championship after beating Miami Heat 105-95 – NBA Finals Game - 6 Recap
The Dallas Mavericks finally got their revenge for defeat to the Miami Heat in the 2006 NBA Finals. They silenced the home crowd of Miami with a commanding 105-95 victory at the American Airlines Arena on Sunday night.
The German superstar Dirk Nowitzki could not find his rhythm in the first half of the game, shooting 1-of-12 from the field. However, the Big Dirk turned it on in the second half and ended with 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds,
taking home finals MVP honour with him.
The real star of the game though was guard Jason Terry. He came off the bench with a game-high 27 points in the victory, shooting at a fantastic 11-for-16 from the field. Guard Jose Barea had 15 points and five assists while forward
Shawn Marion chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds for Dallas.
LeBron James scored a team-high 21 points, six assist, and four rebounds. However, the 26-year-old made just 5 of his last 11 shots and added just 3 points in the third quarter. Chris Bosh had 19 points while guard Dwyane Wade,
who was playing terrifically in the finals, had his worst game of the series, and ended with just 17 points, shooting 6-for-16 from the field.
The Mavericks entered the court with an aim to take the NBA trophy home with them this time and got off to a good start, taking a 32-27 lead into the second.
Miami were back into the game in the second quarter and held a 42-40 with 06:25 to go in the quarter. Dallas however struck in the closing minutes of the quarter to carry a 53-49 lead. Mario Chalmers hit a pair of free throw right
at the buzzer to cut the deficit to two, 53-51, at halftime.
King James played a poor game in the third quarter and added just two points. The Mavs, on the other hand, took full advantage of the situation and stretched their lead to 81-72, heading into the fourth.
Miami managed to make it a three-point contest, 72-69, with 02:31 remaining in the quarter. However, the Mavs were unstoppable down the stretch and went on a 9-3 run to win the championship.
