Dallas Stars 38th overall pick of 2009 NHL draft Alex Chiasson, wants to play in major league
Alex Chiasson, Canadian professional ice hockey player who was drafted 38th overall in the second round of the 2009 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft, wants to make a debut this season by playing in the major league for Dallas Stars.
Chiasson has been part of the team’s system since 2009 but still has not made his way into team development camp. But this year it will happen for the first time that he is going into team’s development camp and wants to make most out of it, by working hard
as he wants to get a place in the team and make his dream come true by making an NHL debut.
The 21-year-old forward is naturally very excited and happy to be going into the training camp and wants to make an instant impression. He also wants a spot in the team as he said,
“I’m thrilled, I am so excited. I’ve worked so hard to get this close, but this is going to be that much harder. And I’ve been working hard this summer. I want to make an impression. It’s going to be my first one and I want to get a spot on this team”.
The 6-foot-4 and 195 pounder, Chiasson had started his hockey career with Des Moines Buccaneers of United States Hockey League in 2008 before moving to Hockey East with Boston University Terriers. He played 36 games in the first season and scored seven goals,
twelve assists for total of 19 points and showed a better performance in the second season as he scored 14 goals, 20 assists for total of 34 points.
Montreal, Quebec born forward was named assistant captain of the team in 2011-2012 when he had a great season as he led his team in the points scored for the second straight season and scored 15 goals, 31 assists and 46 points in just 38 games which earned
him a call from Texas Stars at the end of last season, for whom he played nine games, scored one goal, four assists for total of five points.
Les Jackson, Dallas Stars Director of Player Personnel, had good things to say about Chiasson as he thinks it’s just a matter of time and experience, before Chiasson becomes a part of NHL. Jackson said,
“He’s really a mature kid. He has a great work ethic. He has a good set of hands, is a physical guy, a big guy. I think all he has to do is gain some experience at the American League level and adjust to the pro style of game”.
