Dallas Stars beat the Nashville Predators 3-2
The first game of Saturday was hosted by the Dallas Stars as they played hosted to the Nashville Predators at the American Airlines Arena. Both the teams were in search of a play-off cut and a win for either of the two teams would put them in the play-off
cut.
The game saw the Stars leading at the end of the first period. However, the Predators scored twice in the second period to lead into the final 20 minutes of play.
The Stars came up with brilliant performance in the final period to score two goals and win the game 3-2 in the end.
Kari Lehtonen, goal keeper of the Stars was named the star of the game as he made 25 saves during the course of the game.
Both teams made a great start to the game that saw them attacking every now and then. There were several chances for both sides some of them were easy but they still couldn’t find the back of the net.
Both team’s game got better with the passage of time and it looked as if they would score.
However, this didn’t happen in the early part of the period. The Stars were able to pile up some decent attacks and pieces of play as the end of the period approached. The goal was scored by Tom Wandell from a superb flick shot in the 19th minute.
There were a few more shots on goal but the score line didn’t change as the Stars led 1-0 going into the break. During the course of the period, the Stars made 11 goal attempts while the Predators made 10 goal attempts.
The second period saw the winds change directions as the defence of both teams came out very strong. It didn’t long as the Predators scored in the 5th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Ryan Suter from a decent strike.
The Stars also came up with a few shots on goal but it was the Predators who scored once again in the 14th minute to get into the lead.
The goal was scored by Colin Wilson from a decent strike. There was nothing much to comment during the remaining part of the period.
The period ended with the Predators leading 2-1 at the end of 20 minutes of play. During the course of the period, the Stars made 5 goal attempts while the Predators made 8 goal attempts during the course of the period.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the Stars coming out very strong which resulted in them scoring in the 7th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Alex Goligoski from a well placed flick shot. The Stars kept on piling the pressure
with the Predators coming up with decent shots on goal as well.
However, it was the Stars who scored in the 17th minute during power play through Loui Eriksson from a powerful strike to put the Stars back into the lead. This proved to be the final goal of the game as the Stars won the game 3-2. During the
period, the Stars made 9 goal attempts while the Predators made 7 goal attempts.
