Dallas Stars comes up with a shutout performance as they win 4-0 against the Minnesota Wild
The second last game of Friday was played at the American Airlines Center as the home team, Dallas Stars, played host to Minnesota Wild.
The game was important for both teams as they looked to score the crucial two points. Stars could move into the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a win.
Stars made a great start to the proceedings which saw them firing shots on goal every now and then.
Stars scored the only goal of the first period and were very strong during the second period as well.
With some strong offensive play, Stars scored three more goals to lead 4-0 as the period ended.
No goals were scored in the final period and the game ended with Stars winning 4-0 in the end.
Kari Lehtonen of Stars was named the star of the game as he made 14 saves during the game.
Stars made a stronger start to the game if we compare them with Wild. There were shots on goal by Stars right from start.
Wild also came up with some decent pieces of play which saw them making a few shots on goal every now and then.
Both team found it hard to get past the defence. However, Stars with a brilliant play in the 13th minute scored through Jamie Benn to get into the lead. The goal was scored as a result of a superb backhand shot.
The period ended with Stars leading 1-0 as they made 9 shots on goal during the period while Wild made four shots on goal.
The second period started off with Wild making a few shots on goal but then Stars shifted gears and stepped up their game.
This resulted in the home team scoring in the 16th minute through Trevor Daley from a well placed flick shot to double their lead.
Stars kept on piling the pressure and scored once again in the 18th minute through Tom Wandell from a decent strike. Stars completed the dominating performance in the period with another goal in the same minute which was scored by Mike Ribeiro.
The period ended with Stars leading 4-0 and making 13 shots on goal while Wild made 7 shots on goal.
The final period of the game didn’t see much happening. Though there were shots on goal by both teams, neither of them found the back of the net. The period ended goalless which meant that Stars won the game by 4-0.
During the final period, Stars made 9 shots on goal while Wild made just three shots on goal.
