Dallas Stars expect captain Brenden Morrow back from injury in couple of weeks-NHL
Finally, the Dallas Stars have received the good news of return of the captain, Brenden Morrow, who joined the team in an optional practice session on Thursday, March 01, 2012.
Morrow, who has neither played a game nor practised since suffering the neck and back problems on February 02, 2012, skated during the practice on his own for the first time.
However, the player will have to wait for a week or more before reporting back his recovery and declaring his fitness.
The player admitted he was "nowhere near game shape" and will need time to work on the recovery and rehabilitation to join the squad.
He said:
"It's going to be skating and different movements that my body hasn't been in and make sure I am not causing any pain, and then we'll start getting in some practices, getting bumped around a bit. I'll take it slow at the beginning and then ramp it up before
getting into a game."
Apparently, his recovery process is well on the target. Following the latest workout, the player said he felt confident while skating and did not suffer spells of pain.
About the practice, he said:
"This is the first skate in about three weeks, and so far, no pain. I guess that's a good sign.
The captain further said that he was happy over the recovery progress and hoped to be fully fit over the period of next two weeks, maximum.
Following the skating practice on the ice, Brenden Morrow, took part in the shootout drill with other teammates.
He has so far missed 14 games in a row, but after his participation in the practice past Thursday, the team is hopeful of having back the player in near future.
More details about the status and nature of the player’s injuries are not available.
There is no confirmation either if the player has undergone any serious medical procedure to rectify the problems, which are believed to be of serious nature, and have taken rather lengthy time on recovery.
Morrow, while reflecting on the ordeal, said that he did not have much fun on the ice while working out and the session proved to be very strict regimen that will help him stabilise the joints, which he guessed, were causing the problems in his neck and
back.
He appreciated the teammates for being helpful to him during the practice and said he would like to intensify the workout to relieve the stress in the joints.
No official of the team has offered any comments on the player’s injury, his latest recovery efforts, and his chances of return.
It will be a serious setback for the team if the player’s recover process is prolonged.
