Dallas Stars forward Loui Eriksson excited to play with Jaromir Jagr next season - NHL Update
After the addition of legendary Czech Republic player, Jaromir Jagr, on the Dallas Stars team, forward Loui Eriksson is definitely excited and ready to take the Texas based team to the top next National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
Being a fan of the legendary forward and now being able to play alongside him is an honour for Eriksson, but he also wants to take this opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade which the 27-year-old could use to improve his game even further.
"I've played with (Jamie) Benn before, but Jagr is a totally different person to play with. It would be awesome to play with a player like Jagr," Eriksson told the Stars' website on Monday, August 27, 2012. "He can teach me a lot. He's played in the NHL
a long time and everyone knows how good he is. It's going to be fun to see how he is in practice and then play with him in games."
Eriksson was picked up as the 33rd overall back in round-two of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by Dallas Stars, at a time when Jaromir Jagr was lighting up the goal post left and right.
Dallas Stars picked up Jagr, who made his NHL comeback prior to last season with Philadelphia Flyers but did not re-sign with them, with a $4.5 million one-year contract. It is not clear at the moment on how long Jagr wants to continue playing in the league,
but if he stays healthy and continues to benefit the Stars team, another few years will not be that hard to imagine.
Phoenix Coyotes’ Ray Whitney was the second major addition by Dallas Stars this time around, bringing a great veteran group to the team full of youngsters as they pursue a comeback into the playoffs.
"It's going to be interesting," Eriksson said. "We've got two older guys – Jagr and Whitney – coming in, plus Roy and the other guys. It looks good and it's going to be fun."
Next season is definitely set to be exciting for Dallas fans as the Stars get ready to rumble and give it all their got.
