Dallas Stars play it safe, Brenden Morrow out for next three games -NHL Update
Dallas Stars played it safe on Monday, February 6, 2012, by announcing to keep their captain, Brenden Morrow out for at least the next upcoming three games in order to insure a safe and healthy comeback for their star player.
Morrow was expected to play against the Minnesota Wild in Dallas’ Sunday night matchup but was taken out of the line-up during the final moments in order to keep things safe in regards to his health.
Staying out for the next couple of games would mean that Dallas Stars will be playing without Morrow in their next game against Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday at home and the next two on the road against Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres.
"We're not looking for him this trip," Dallas Stars head coach, Glen Gulutzan, said. "We're just preparing like he is not going to be here, and we'll wait to see what transpires over the next five or six days."
Morrow is currently on the team’s injured reserve due to a neck pain along with back and shoulder problems as well. This will be the second time after he missed six games earlier in the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
Having a healthy roster not only means more players for the Dallas team but also an energetic roster with everyone on the ice and playing in chemistry.
``Talking to guys like Bennie and Nystrom today, and they talked about how dead they were Saturday (against Minnesota),'' Gulutzan said. `That's something we don't realize, and when you hear it from the majority of your guys, and your workers specifically, that they didn't have much energy in them, that just goes to show you how important rest is.''
Brenden Morrow was picked up as the 25th overall pick during round-one of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by Dallas Stars and has remained with the team ever since. This season, Brenden Morrow supports a 43 game record in which he has 22 points (8 goals, 14 assists) with a plus-minus rating of two.
Having Morrow back on the team would certainly allow for more firepower and defensive enforcement, which is what Dallas Stars look forward to when he makes his comeback.
