Dallas Stars plays host to San Jose Sharks as it looks to win the fourth and final game between the two like the last three
The second last game of Tuesday will be hosted at the American Airlines Arena as Dallas Stars are up against San Jose Sharks.
Stars have won three out of the four games that have already taken place. The last game took place on the 5th of March, 2011, where Stars managed to hold on and win the game 3-2 in the end.
Sharks were up against Chicago Blackhawks this past Monday and goalkeeper Antti Niemi’s former teammates gave him a very tough time. They fired shots every now and then and scored which resulted in Hawks winning the game by 6-3 in the end.
"I was trying to look at this like another game," said Niemi, who helped Blackhawks win their first Stanley Cup since 1961 last June.
Though this loss was only Sharks’ fourth regulation time loss is the last 25 games they have played. However, this is by no means the stage in the regular season where teams can afford this.
The Western Conference is already very tight and even a little slip up for any team could see them losing their chances of making it into the playoffs.
Sharks built a cushion for themselves but by missing each opportunity to score points they are asking for trouble.
They are just six points ahead of the ninth placed team in their conference and two points ahead of Predators and from the way things are going they aren’t in a strong position to maintain the lead up front.
"If I was going to sum up the game: they skated, we glided," San Jose’s coach, Todd McLellan, said after Monday's loss. "They were hard on the boards, we were soft. We were looking for a win the easy way, and there's 30 teams in the League right now that
know that doesn't work."
Sharks have played 70 games during the course of the season so far out of which they have won 39 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 86 points.
On the other hand, Stars have piled up some decent results which have seen them winning 37 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score 82 points.
Stars managed to crawl their way back into the game after being down 2-1 against Los Angeles Kings in their last game. However, Kings managed to score right at the death to win the game in the end.
"It's tough to take," Stars’ captain, Brenden Morrow, said. "You battle for 59 minutes and get back to even, and then they score a late one. It's tough. We're going to let it sink in here for the next 10 or 15 minutes and then push it aside to get ready
for the next game."
