Dallas Stars thrash Minnesota Wild 4-0
Andrew Raycroft made 26 saves to get his second shutout of the season, while Jamie Benn scored twice as the Dallas stars hammered Minnesota Wild 4-0 on Sunday. The win meant that Dallas equalled a franchise record, by claiming their seventh straight victory
on the road. Trevor Daley was named the star selection of the match for his goal, assist and excellent work in defence.
The Dallas Stars started off the proceedings strongly, as the very first play of the match led to a shot that went just wide of the target. The visitors’ persistence and hard work paid off in the third minute, when they took the lead through Trevor Daley.
The game moved on swiftly with both teams coming up with some brilliant pieces of play. However, Dallas ended the period on a high by extending their lead. Their domination resulted in them scoring once again in the final minute of the period through a powerful
Jamie Benn strike. The period ended with Dallas Stars leading 2-0. During the period, Dallas Stars made 10 goal attempts while Minnesota Wild made 11 goal attempts.
The second period saw the Dallas Stars emerge with a better defensive line. The defence was strong and managed to cut off any attacks which might have being dangerous. Not only that, the defence also provided some added strength to the Dallas Stars offence.
Minnesota Wild came up with some resistance as well but it was short lived. No goals were scored in the period and Dallas Stars still led 2-0. During the second period Dallas made nine goal attempts, while Minnesota Wild made five goal attempts.
The final 20 minutes was a reflection of the first period which saw both teams making regular goal attempts, but the Dallas Stars managed to convert their chances. James Neal gave the Dallas Stars their third goal in the 10th minute through a
wonderful flick shot.
Dallas Stars confidence and domination saw them seal the match in the 15thminute through a Jamie Benn strike. Minnesota tried hard to score a consolation goal, but unfortunately they couldn’t as Dallas kept a clean sheet winning the match 4-0.
