Dallas Stars thrash Nashville Predators 4-2
Dallas Stars goalkeeper Andrew Raycroft saved an amazing 44 shots, as his side thrashed the Nashville Predators 4-2 on Tuesday night. The loss means the Predators have lost their last five games.
The home team started the game as the brighter of the two sides, as they were brilliant in both attack and defence, and continuously peppered their opponent’s goal with some fierce shots. After complete dominance in the first half of the period, the
Dallas Stars settled into the game and came up with a few chances of their own. Though both teams were determined and worked hard to score, the game was goal less after the opening 20 minutes. The Predators made 16 goal attempts in the period, while the Dallas
Stars made eight goal attempts.
The Stars were quick out of the blocks in the second period. Their plan was simple and they executed it to perfection. They didn’t let the home team settle down, and tried to dominate possession.
This strategy worked well for them and they managed to take the lead in the fifth minute. Steve Ott’s powerful shot found the back of the net to break the deadlock. After the goal the home team again started to take control of the game
with some brilliant attacking moves. The Predators were able to level the scores with a goal in the 19th minute through Colin Wilson’s backhand shot. The period ended with the scores level at 1-1 with the Predators firing 18 shots on goal, while
the Dallas Stars managed just seven goal attempts.
The home team then took the lead in the opening minute of the third period, when Colin Wilson scored his second goal of the night. However Dallas was determined not to let the Predators run away with the game. They responded immediately, and leveled
the scores just a minute later through Loui Eriksson.
The Dallas Stars then mounted a number of strong attacks, and scored twice through Mark Fistric and Krystofer Barch in the ninth and 10th minutes respectively to wrap up the match 4-2. Loui Eriksson was named the star selection
of the match, as his goal tied the scores at 2-2.
