Dallas Stars to win comfortably over poor San Jose Sharks - NHL Preview
Dallas Stars will look to take advantage of San Jose Sharks slump in form for their fourth straight win in a row on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the American Airlines Center.
The Stars have powered their way into the top four in the Western Conference with a string of wonderful performances and will be confident of taking all two points at home against a San Jose side that is completely low on confidence.
Dallas’ brilliant form has seen them move up the Western Conference table into third with 77 points and they are showing no signs of slowing down.
San Jose on the other hand are moving in a completely different direction. Near the top of the Western Conference for most of the season, the Sharks have now forgotten how to win games.
Their slumping form sees them drop down to eighth in the Western Conference with 74 points and the Sharks now have to get some positive results if they wish to enter into the playoffs.
Stars (36-26-5, 77 pts)
Dallas are one of the most inform teams in the league currently and they will be favourite to win at home over the Sharks.
The Stars have won three games in a row and have lost just one game out their previous eight.
Dallas surprisingly defeated Vancouver Canucks on the road in their last game. The Canucks were humiliated as they lost by a huge 5-2 margin at the Rogers Arena.
Coach Glen Gulutzan was more than impressed by his players’ performance and was happy with the six points they wrapped up in the three-game road trip.
"You can't ask for more. We got six points out of this thing that we desperately needed. We just got to keep moving forward."
Sharks (33-24-8, 74 pts)
The same cannot be said of the Sharks.
Their dip in form and performance in February surprised many and San Jose’s poor performances show no signs of ending just yet.
The Sharks are currently on a three-game skid which is likely to become four after Thursday’s encounter.
San Jose Captain Joe Thornton wants the team to buck up from their slump and hopes that luck and some bounces go the Sharks way in their next game.
"You definitely have to work your way out of slumps like this. All we can do is keep working and hopefully the hockey gods will be kind to us the next few games."
Predictions
Dallas Stars will win comfortably.
The Stars offence are in brilliant form and fans are likely to see a lot of goals in this game.
