Question:

Dallas Texas - Anniversary Ideas???? (11 yrs)

We did things big last year for our 10th - took a kidless trip to Mexico. So this year is more low-key. We live right around Dallas and would like to do something new. We have done dinner and a movie. We do actually get to go on dates. We eat at lots of places, but we'd like something nice, but not too nice.... We are going more low-budget than our week long trip. Suggestions? And no staying at home doing a picnic or whatever is not ok. We enjoy music, but have been over clubbing for a while and we visit Cowboys a lot with friends. We are 30-ish and fun but not crazy anymore. Living right out of town we don't know the "things" to do....

Help.. Let me know if you need more details about what kind of people we are...

  1. Texas Land and Cattle co on Lemon ... I believe its on lemon... goooood

  2. What about a romantic dinner followed by a walk somewhere? Maybe someplace like the Melting Pot (Fondue). I also hear that III Forks is a romantic place. Randy's Steakhouse in Frisco is romantic. After dinner try walking around a park or square or the lake and maybe go to a dessert or chocolate shop afterwards (like in Legacy Square).

  3. If you like music, there's Sambuca or House of Blues. They're both in downtown Dallas.  I've heard about the Ghostbar on top of the W Victory Hotel also, though I haven't made it there myself.

  4. The Dallas Symphony is very good and the Myerson symphony Hall is a spectacular place.  Why not get a hotel downtown for an evening, hit a nice restaurant (Newports, the Butcher Shop, YO Ranch) then go to a concert at the myerson.

  5. Check out Stratos Greek Food and dances lessons on Friday.

  6. If you're wanting to stay close, you could check out current events going on in Ft. Worth and stay at The Ashton.  It was built in 1915 and has been redone.  It's really nice and kind of pricey, but worth it.  The Reatta is really nice but casual atmosphere with some of the best food I've ever eaten.  Guys in western wear serve you and country music is played while you dine.  Below is a link to the events calendar for Ft. Worth.  Close by the hotel is Bass Hall and shopping and dining.  We went last year to see The Tribute to the Beatles play at at the Reatta, shopped the next day and walked down to Pizzeria Uno for lunch.  It was a really nice getaway.

Congratulations and whatever you decide to do, have a great time. :)

  7. If you don't mind the short drive, we have enjoyed staying at the Inn Above Onion Creek in Kyle.  It is in the hill country for for peace and quiet or you can go into Austin for the night life.

The Inn is beautiful.  The meals were great.  The stay includes breakfast and dinner.

I don't like fru fru B&Bs.  I enjoyed this one.  Also, if you go, take a trip into Wimberly.  The Glassworks was a fun stop.  Also the Saltlick BBQ was very good.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

  8. get a Saturday night room at the Marriott inside the Shops at Legacy.  Here's the drill afterwards...go to Martini Park for Happy Hour (around 6pm).  Make sure you put your name at a restaurant on the way (or get a reservation).  Give the restaurant your cell and they'll call you when your table is ready...hang out at Martini, but get your hand stamped before you leave.

Go to dinner, then to Cru Wine Bar after dinner for a little patio action/people watching.

After that it should be around 10-11pm, head back to Martini Park which is now a live music club (not too loud, but NOTHING like it was at 6pm).  Hang out there then walk to your hotel about 100 yards away.  It's fun-hip-a place to be seen-and best of all, you don't have to get in your car.

RA sushi is another HOT spot right now, it's across Legacy but still within walking distance.

  9. Go to ***** Last Resort and visit some bars down town. That place is always a blast!
