Dallas to play host to the 2012 USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships
It has been revealed in a recent announcement that the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships will be taking place in Dallas next year. The venue for the tournament is decided as the Dallas Convention Center and the dates that have been scheduled
for the event are July 1 to 8.
Tom Pingel, who is the senior director of USA Volleyball, expressed his sentiments after the anouncment was made and said, “USA Volleyball is pleased to bring our signature event for boys’ volleyball to the city of Dallas. The city has become a tremendous
partner in showcasing volleyball at the regional and national levels for both genders and all age groups. The boys’ teams that will arrive in Dallas next year will have an excellent venue to compete in and great city environment to enjoy.”
The National championships are considered to be one of the best that the nation has to offer in the junior’s category. Next year will see the championships take place for the 33rd time. The event has become so popular that a total of 4,500 athletes
are expected to take part in the tournament next year. These athletes will become a part of the approximately 400 teams that will be crowding Dallas in a run for the championship title. Not only do the athletes grace the venue of the event but their families
also tag along for an exciting ride.
The national volleyball event is divided into various categories to streamline the process and make it easier to organise a large scale event with so many teams participating. For the athletes that belong to the age group of 14-18, there are five Open Division
titles. Not only that, there are seven titles that belong to the Club Division and are contested amongst athletes that are under the age of 18 but above 12.
The 2012 BJNC will not be the only tournament of the national level taking place in Dallas next year. The Taekwondo and fencing youth championships will also be taking place alongside the event.
