Dalma Sebestyen clinches Girls 200m IM gold – European Junior Swimming Championships
Dalma Sebestyen of Hungary clinched gold medal of the Girls 200m Individual Medley (IM) on fifth day of the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium on Sunday, July 8.
The Hungarian swimmer stunned the aquatic crowd with her scintillating form in the 200m discipline. Sebestyen faced no trouble from her challengers throughout the event and made her way to the finishing end in a comfortable manner for first position.
With her epic start, she gained a marginal lead over her challengers in the start and cruised her way towards the finishing wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 16.09 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was chased by Iryna Glavnyk of Ukraine, who stayed 0.97 seconds slower and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 17.06 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Reka Gyorgy of Hungary, who remained 0.14 seconds away from the silver medallist and made her way to the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 17.20 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Kathrin Demler of Germany, who remained 0.07 seconds away from overpowering her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.27 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Chloe Tutton of Great Britain, who remained 0.09 seconds apart and ended her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 17.36 seconds of the event.
Tutton was chased by Julia Schnorrbusch of Germany, who remained two body lengths behind and sprinted her way towards the finishing blockade with an effort of 2 minutes and 19.11 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured Cynthia Verkaik of Netherlands, who was 0.73 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 19.84 seconds.
Last position of the event was secured by Tjasa Pintar of Slovenia, who obtained eighth position of the discipline by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 20.13 seconds.
Sebestyen was contented with her effort in the 200m discipline and received massive admiration from her fans at the medal ceremony of the championship.
