My friend's dalmatian molly just had babies (about 20 of them). She keeps all of the fish in a small aquarium. She is going to give me about 7 of them or so. Am I able to keep them away from their mother and keep them in a goldfish bowl?

  1. Hey dont do that.IThey may be pretty happy for seperating from there mom.but keeping it in a goldfish bowl is a bad idea.because this bowl is bad for goldfish then how can it be ok for molly, those want more area. And also goldies may eat the fry so you really want them to survive please dont do that Tell your friend that you will have them after having a good tank to make them happy & for their long life..

I hope I have helped you

  2. It's no problem taking them from the mother but not to a bowl.  Once fish are born the parents have no interaction with them and will even eat them but a bowl is not a suitable home for any fish.  You will need at least a 5 gallon tank with a filter and heater.  As adults 7 mollies would need a 20 gallon tank.
