Question:

Damaged Bike Break?

So, I was attempting to stop the squeaking on my bike by tuning the breaks, specifically the back break. Well, it doesn't squeak anymore, but that's because I disconnected the back break. The wire by the break (where you tighten/ loosen it) was too badly messed up to to try to fix it. How much do you think this would cost to fix this at a bike shop or something? I hope I explained this well enough.

  1. A new cable will cost about $5.00-$8.00.  If you have the bike shop install it, expect the repair to cost $20.00-$30.00.

You might want to read Park Tools brake repair pages prior to doing further work on your brakes:

    Hope this helps.

  2. Just get a new cable for the brakes.

They come in different thicknesses and sizes-

bring the old one to the bike shop so they will give

    you the right one.

It'll only be a couple of bucks.
