Damian Fyfe acquires Boys 200m freestyle gold: Day six – Australian Age Championships, Brisbane
Damian Fyfe of City of Perth acquired gold medal of the Boys 200m freestyle in the age group of 15 Year Olds on sixth day of the 2012 Australian Age Championships at the Sleeman Sports Complex, Brisbane on Saturday, April 14.
Fyfe continued his thrilling form in the playoff of the 200m discipline and earned his way to the finishing end for gold medal by hitting the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 54.58 seconds.
He was chased by Joshua Parrish of Gardens, who remained nearly 1.50 seconds behind and ended his sprint in a time of 1 minute and 56.16 seconds for silver medal.
Parrish was trailed by Max Carleton of East Brisbane, who won bronze medal of the race with an effort of 1 minute and 56.55 seconds.
Next was the 100m backstroke in Girls 12-13 Year Olds category, where Shayna Jack stunned the crowd with her scintillating form. Jack won gold medal of the discipline by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 04.14 seconds.
She was followed by Monique Rae of Cranbrook, who earned silver medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 1 minute and 05.09 seconds. She was trailed by Annie Pepper of Traralgon, who ended her swim in third place by posting 1 minute and 05.56 seconds.
Following that, Kyle Chalmers of Norwood dominated the Boys equivalent event. Chalmers stayed considerably faster from Leo Wong of Surrey Park and ended her swim in first place by clocking a time of 1 minute and 00.62 seconds.
Wong remained second fastest swimmer of the discipline as he touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 01.76 seconds. The third spot of the discipline was secured by Benno Negri of Melbourne, who ended his swim with an effort of 1 minute and 02.21
seconds.
Oliver Moody emerged as the fourth fastest finisher of the event as he tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 02.58 seconds.
In addition, the crowd appreciated commendable swims of all participants while the winners were awarded medals after the session.
