New Zealand bowling coach Damien Wright will quit the role at the end of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Cricket in an official release,
on Tuesday.
Wright, who is currently in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 with the Black Caps, has cited his desire to spend more time with his family as reason behind his decision.
“The decision is related to time away from my family and a need to be based closer to home,” said Wright, who took over as the Kiwis bowling coach from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Anthony-Donald-c43680, in mid-2011.
The Australian – who played for Tasmania Victoria, Glamorgan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866 during a varied first-class career – said that he had enjoyed working with the Black Caps, and it was a tough decision
to leave the position.
"It has been a privilege to work with current crop of bowlers and I'm proud of the progression they have made over the past year," the 37-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784 bowler added further.
Expressing disappointment over Wright’s decision to step down, the NZC director of cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Marshall-Buchanan-c68302 said that the New South Welshman played a significant role during his short stint with the national team.
“Damien has done a brilliant job since he came on board and will be hard to replace. He brings a huge amount of passion and energy to the team,” said Buchanan in an official statement on Tuesday. “We have been particularly impressed
with the growth and development of the young fast bowlers during his time in the role,” he added further.
During his time Wright has overseen the rise of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Doug-Bracewell-c1394 as a Test regular, though the Kiwis faced disgracing defeats at the hands of South Africa and West
Indies during this time.
This will be second change in New Zealand’s coaching staff in four months, after former head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Buchanan-c48808.
The Kiwis will soon start their search for a new bowling coach to join up with the recently appointed head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mike-J-Hesson-c76286, who took over from John Wright after the disastrous tour to Caribbean.
