Australian domestic fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Damien-Wright-c1304, is set to take on the New Zealand cricket squad as the team’s new bowling coach.
Wright will be replacing the former Black Caps bowling instructor, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527, as the assistant coach for their national side.
With Donald heading back to his homeland, Wright was approached by the former Australian coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Marshall-Buchanan-c68302, who is currently the Director Cricket for New Zealand Cricket.
Wright was taken up as the bowling coach after being shuffled down from two other contenders. The other nominations for the designation included http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 bowling Coach, Matt Nicholson, who was considered for his profound cricketing profile, and another
Australian fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-John-Bichel-c44426.
However, Wright was considered to be the best option for the side, for which the Australian expressed his gratitude to the New Zealand Cricket officials for taking him on board and stated that he would take this opportunity very seriously.
"It's fantastic. I'm thrilled to bits. I'm looking forward to getting involved, it was a huge opportunity and one I was thrilled to take," said Wright.
Wright, 35, was offered to fill in the vacancy last week and was recently confirmed after taking a release from his previous job as the assistant coach to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Greg-Shipperd-c1507, for the new Melbourne Stars Twenty20 (T20) franchise.
Before assisting Shipperd with the Melbourne Stars, Wright was the bowling coach for Victoria till last year. However, despite instructing his domestic squad, Wright continued his participation in the English county, where he played for Worcestershire. However,
with new coaching assignments ahead of him, Wright called off his playing commitments following his official retirement from first class cricket last year.
The player’s affluent 14 years cricketing career, which took off in 1997, holds 123 First class matches with a total of 406 wickets.
Wright made significant participation in the Australian domestic teams, including http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843,
