Hi, I am trying to find ways on how to scare and keep pigeons away from my pergola. There is bird poo everywhere. I have to clean outside everyday because the pigeons sit on the beams and poo constantly.. Any help would be great!

  1. My suggestions would be to use some kind of a decoy to scare them off.

Find a large rubber snake and place it up around where you do not want the pigeons to be.

Be sure to have some movement in the snakes body when the wend blows.

Find an owl decoy that has some movement to it and put it up where you do not want them to be.

Find a hawk decoy with some movement in it and place it where you do not want them to be.

the key is to have some movement in what ever you use so they think that it is alive and a threat to them.

  2. They make little figurines(Well, not little, lifesize) of owls. Try hanging one out there. Other than that... I don't know :-)

  3. If you can't afford fake rubber snakes then get an old water hose and paint it black. Lay the hoses aroung your pergola and move them everyday. The birds will think it's a snake and they won't rest there. Also you can get a plastic owl and perch it on beams this will help too.

    Good Luck

  4. 1)Terror Eyes-

Huge 2' ball with menacing 3-D moving eyes on front and back, predator scares birds away for outdoor use air/ wind movement create the illusion of a active predator.

    2)Bird - Proof Repellent

Transparent- non toxic, thick and sticky-- makes surface tacky and uncomfortable for birds they will look for another place to land and sit. All weather formula- wont harm surfaces

    3)QB4 Ultrasonic Bird Replier-

This drives birds out of enclosed places, makes high frequency sounds, But higher than humans can hear, Birds  don't get use to sound patterns.

    4)Irri-Tape -

Foil tape flashes in the wind or sun makes noise and produces an unsettling danger sound to birds they don't like this.

This is a challenging job its very hard to get rid of these birds because of there numbers and nesting instincts best to try to remove nests and material  first before you start any programs to get them to stay away.

  5. Maybe pigeons don't like it when people constantly squish them with their cars, destroy their habitats, allow their children to chase them, giving them no peace at all!

What comes around, goes around! xD

    Deal with it LOL.

** No need to be rude, I was only joking, hence the "LOL."

    Don't get abusive now.

    - Most places put those spike things up, maybe you could try getting some of those?

    ** This might help:

"I have a friend who had pigeons on his balcony... what they left was NOT eggs. Someone told him to paint the balcony; he did and they were gone the rest of the season. When they came back the next year, he painted, they left. I don't know if it is the smell or that odd rubbery texture paint keeps for so long even after it is dry, but they stayed away. Good luck."

"I purchased a wind chime about 1 and 1/2 feet long that is shiny and the 'clanking' pitch is quite high. I hung it from an extended bracket off the side balcony wall. I have found the pigeons don't like the sound or movement. It's a fairly large chime and I sometimes take it down if there is a rain/wind storm, which I did the other night. Well, the next day I saw a pigeon sitting on my rail. I immediately put back the chime. I have a couple of flower pots and I am going to get a small Shepard's hook and dangle a miniature chime on it, centered in the flower pots as well. That way there will be a couple of chimes around all areas. Hope the neighbors don't kill me!"

  7. get some aluminum foils, fold them thinly or crumple them. Then cut the foil thinly. scatter the thin foil. Another plus:your scissor can be sharpened

    Ultrasonic Repellents

    Scarecrows Fake Owl Statues

  9. hi yes pigeons are  very bad for sitting on beams and pooping on everything u can buy these little spikes that u put on the beams that stop birds landing on them and doesn't hurt them just ask around the shops at ur place and I'm sure u will find them....it stops them landing on there as it doesn't allow them to have a flat surface to land on if u are worried that it may hurt them u could always try broom heads but I'm not sure if that will work

    best of luck

  10. fake snakes .... sounds weird I had the problem with a brand new driveway and the fake snake on the roof fixed it a treat
