Damon Hill sees a stronger Sebastian Vettel in 2011
BRDC President Damon Hill, sees an even stronger season ahead for the new World Champion, Sebastian Vettel. He believes that Vettel will be coming back next year with an even better pace and form. Hill says that the German will
enter the next season’s grid with a lot more confidence after having made the record of the youngest World Champion of the sport’s history.
2010 wrapped up as one of the most demanding seasons ever in the 60 years of Formula One. The Championship battle had been very tough all through the season and remained indecisive till the very last race of the season. The top
five drivers, of the year gave a very stiff competition to one another as in every other race, the points’ tally kept changing very dramatically.
Hill now believes that the next season is going to give a lot of advantage to the German. He sees a more polished, relaxed and confident racer in the next calendar who will be outperforming his rivals with less pressure on him
now.
He commented on the driver saying, "I think Vettel is very strong. He's been right at the front now for a couple of seasons and this world championship frees him up and I think he'll be able to relax a little bit, not too much,
and enjoy himself. And when a driver is enjoying himself he is more of a threat I think, so the pressure's a little bit off. He's so young and I think he's going to have many championships before he retires."
Although Hill believes that the 23-year-old will be entering the upcoming season as favourite for the title, yet he looks ahead for a tough competition once again. He reckons that the McLaren duo, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button
will be very quick next season. Also, their improved MP4-26 is expected to threaten everyone on next season’s tracks.
The BRDC President sees the media magnet, Hamilton as a very strong racer who can come forward as a big threat at anytime in the year. On the other hand, Button also has a unique racing approach, which is not aggressive but very
unpredictable.
Last but of course not the least, Hill thinks that Michael Schumacher is another man to watch out next year, "I don't think he disgraced himself at all. He showed that it's hard to come back. I think it's hard also to maintain
pace as you get older and he'll have had things to think about I'm sure but he never gives up, that's what defines him."
