Question:

Damp underwear during pregnancy?!?

I am 18 weeks pregnant and lately I've noticed that every time I go to the bathroom my underwear is damp. I pee pretty frequently and I don't really know if it's just urine leaking or sweat or what. I just had a check up and everything is going good. I didn't think to mention it to the Dr at the time though. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this and what it could be. Thanks!!!

  1. It's called leukorrhea. It's similar to vaginal discharge you might experience between periods, only heavier. Its presence, though never especially pleasant, is normal throughout your entire pregnancy — it protects the birth canal from infection and maintains a healthy balance of bacteria in the v****a. Expect it to increase as your pregnancy progresses.

Wear pads or panty liners if they'll make you feel more comfortable (and dry).

Keeping clean and dry can help prevent some of the unpleasant odors that can possibly go along with this type of discharge.

Keep the douches at the drugstore. Douching can upset the natural chemistry in your v****a and can even lead to infections. Plus, it might force air into the v****a — not a good thing when you're pregnant.

Don't bother with washes and wipes meant to keep the v****a clean or stop odor because it could be irritating — and because it can change the ph in your genital tract.

  2. Its leakage and its totally normal. Ive had it though out my pregnancy the best thing is to wear a panty line and keep some cleaning cloths close when you go out.

  3. vaginal secretions increase during pregnancy, and especially towards the end you can lose all sorts down there-sorry TMI. it's normal as long as it doens't have an offensive smell or isn't green or bright yellow, or red obviously. if it was urine then it would be stained yellow and you would know.

  4. Could be discharge, sweat, urine, but I doubt it is fluid. The vaginal area is a moist place and with all the different liquids going on down there its hard to tell. My advice would be smell it....sweet smell is fluid, sweat smells like sweat, urine smells like urine,

  5. Could be stress-incontinence, in other words baby is laying on your bladder and causing leakage. No biggie, pretty normal, try pantie liners for you comfort and dryness.

  6. It's discharge, it's completely normal. Happens to me all the time, you'll notice an increase in it later on, and you'll probably need to wear panty liners. Everyone's different, but that's how it is for me. Your v****a is self cleaning, that's what the discharge is. It's nothing bad.

  7. I feel your pain. I'm almost 20 weeks and I have had the same problem for a few weeks now. Sometimes mine is discharge and other times I don't know what it is. I'm constantly using the bathroom also but I have a huge fear that a little of it is indeed urine. I even had my doctor check me for a UTI or any other sort of urine infection and all the tests came back negative. I think that most of the time it is just the increase in discharge. Perfectly normal.

  8. I started to experience the same thing also at around 18 weeks preggo. Other than discharge, believe it or not it is also sweat. There is no room is there for your body to breath so just make sure you wear cotton underwear to help it breath better and to avoid any infections.

  9. Its discharge, and perfectly normal.  You might want to start wearing a panty liner to keep clean.

  10. I would guess that it's pee.  That baby is just on your bladder.  Even though you pee frequently, you bladder is getting jumped on and pee is leaking out.  I had the same problem!  Coughing, sneezing and laughing may become a problem also. haha  If this is your first, beware that your bladder will never be the same!  It may still happen when you cough, sneeze, or laugh afterward.

  11. Its part of the wonderful gift of pregnancy. It happened to me too. Just change your panties a lot lol i guess you could wear light days panty liners.

  12. I'm at 28 weeks and get a lot of discharge so I use a pantyliner every day which makes it better. You could be sweating too, use powder in that area and hopefully you won't feel so damp but trust me you're not the only one :-)

  13. Sounds gross but have you noticed an odor? Does it smell like urine? Is it thinner than your regular discharge? During pregnancy we generally are more moist so to speak in our v****a, but if it has a little sweeter scent you may want to just call your Doctor to make sure you are not leaking amniotic fluid.

Dont freak out, that early on it more than likely is just dampness, or urine but wear a thin panty liner to see just how much, and to protect your clothes from urine etc.

If you are worried at all they can tell easily and have a fern test that can check to see if it is amniotic fluid or just you being a little more damp. I would bet it is just urine or extra dampness

    :-)
