After remaining first on the ’List of Top Super Rugby Point Scorers’, Dan Carter is now on top of the all time ‘List of Leading Rugby Union Test Point Scorers’.
He also has the highest points average per test of 15.1. The legendary fly-half for All-Blacks has bagged numerous awards and titles to his name in his eight years of productive career. Dan Carter has been voted as the New Zealand’s sexiest male in 2005.
He received up to 36% of decisive votes. Carter released his top selling sports book ‘Dan Carter: Skills & Performance’ in 2006. He remains number 11 on the list of sexiest men in the world and number 3 as the sexiest athlete. He’s also seen on many billboard
around the world.
Carter made to this milestone of being the top Test scorer in a test against Wales. That eighth minute penalty helped him with the one-point lead he needed to cross Jonny Wilkinson’s previous world record of 1,178. Carter had an option to draw level after
Hosea Gear’s try, but he pulled the conversion wide of the posts. He reached this target in his 79th test, whereas Wilkinson did it in 86 tests. He is the second All-Black to enter this list. New Zealand’s Andrew Mehrtens (1995-04) stands at sixth
position with 967 points.
New Zealand took a noticeable 37-25 win over Wales at the Millennium Stadium. Carter missed four out of five penalties that day. He wasn’t too pleased with himself. He scored 12 points against Wales taking him to a total of 1,188 points. Carter was very
proud of reaching the milestone, "I was disappointed missing some of the kicks afterwards as well," Carter told the press. He found it frustrating to be missing those goal kicks, but the record overshadowed all the flaws made that day.
New Zealand Coach Graham Henry saluted the record holder. He said, “He is the navigator of our team, he’s a very astute player and he’s world class. He kicks under pressure with lots of composure.”
