Dan Hardy assisting Georges St-Pierre for fight against Carlos Condit – UFC News
Georges St-Pierre and Rory MacDonald were featured on Fuel TV’s Training Day: Inside Tristar Gym Live. The program gave a glimpse of how things work in the Montreal gym. Tristar’s most cherished fighters GSP and MacDonald were shown training for their upcoming
fights. GSP will be taking on interim welterweight titlist Carlos Condit at UFC 154 in his comeback bout while MacDonald will be taking on B.J. Penn.
Apart from GSP and MacDonald’s appearance, the show had a surprise for fans, and that was Dan Hardy. Later, it was revealed by Tristar’s head coach Firas Zahabi that Hardy is assisting GSP in training for the fight.
“He's a special guest this week to spar with Georges,” asserted Zahabi. “He fought Condit. When he was fighting Condit, it was neck-and-neck. Yes, he got stopped by Condit, but I think it was one inch away from being the other way around. It was very close
-- extremely close fight -- and I think he's a very good look for us to see what it's going to like when Georges fights Condit.”
Probably, Hardy is not the best person to spar with, as he was knocked out by Condit in the first round at UFC 120 two years ago.
“We click,” Zahabi added. “He's a great guy. We get along very well personally.”
GSP will be making his comeback in the UFC after almost eighteen months. The ‘Silver Lining’ is hopeful that he would make the most of his fight against Condit. In fact, GSP has promised fans that they would see a changed fighter after a gap of nearly 2
years. According to GSP, he will now be knocking out his opponents more than ever to be an ‘exciting fighter’.
For now, GSP is training hard with Hardy to make sure he does not slip against Condit. His comeback fight will be an important in deciding his future with the organisation. A win could land him a title shot at middleweight champion Anderson Silva while a
loss could take him back to square one. In other words, by hook or by crook, GSP has to win the fight.
