Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel named to Poker Hall of Fame
Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel have been named the 2010 inductees into the Poker Hall of Fame. Harrington is best known as the 1995 World Series of Poker Champion, while Seidel is an eight-time
WSOP gold bracelet winner. The pair are the 39th and 40th players to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Harrington, ironically nicknamed “Action Dan” due to his tight, conservative play, has over $6.5 million in tournament poker winnings to his name. In addition to winning the WSOP main
even in 1995, Harrington made the final table in 1987 and back-to-back in 2003 and 2004.  In 1987 he finished in sixth place, in 2003 he was third and in 2004 he placed fourth. Harrington also has a WSOP bracelet for his win in the 1995 $2500 buy in No Limit
Hold’em event.
In addition to a successful poker career, Harrington has been a successful businessman and author. For many years Harrington was a partner at the Boston-based law firm Member and Harrington,
working as a real estate and bankruptcy lawyer. He was also co-founder of the Santa-Monica based investment firm, Anchor Loans. As a poker author he has co-written five books with Bill Robertie.
Outside of the poker world Eric Seidel may be best known from the movie “Rounders.” The scene in which Seidel appears is the final hand of the 1988 WSOP Main Event where Johnny Chan defeats
Seidel for the gold bracelet. Since that time Seidel has won eight WSOP events and amassed tournament winnings of over $10 million. His eight bracelets tie him with Phil Ivey at fourth all time. Seidel’s 60 WSOP cashes tie him with fellow Poker Hall of Fame
member Berry Johnston, also at fourth all time.
Other nominees for induction into the Hall of Fame this year were Chris Ferguson, Barry Greenstein, Jennifer Harman-Traniello, Phil Ivey, Linda Johnson, Tom McEvoy, Daniel Negreanu and
Scotty Nguyen.
Harrington and Seidel will be officially inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame on 8 November during the WSOP final table event at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
