Dan Henderson as Jon Jones next opponent after Rashad Evans – UFC News
After defeating former friend Rashad Evans, Jon Jones is on his way to get the toughest fight of his career. According to the UFC, Jon Jones will be facing Dan Henderson next.
Dan Henderson, who defeated Mauricio Rua in November convincingly, has been waiting for this day. In his interview a couple of weeks before, Henderson said that he was in line to face Jones instead of Evans. However, according to him, Evans got the opportunity
before him. Even though Henderson was being recommended for the heavyweight division, the light-heavyweight star held onto his division and waited for his match against Jones. Now, Henderson’s wait is over as UFC announced on Sunday his match against Jones.
After the confirmation of the match, Henderson was asked about his views. Keeping in mind Jones’ victory over Evans, Henderson stated, “You've really got to get inside and fight with him and end up in the clinch with him a lot. Jones is better than most
guys in the clinch. ... (But) that's where I'm most comfortable. At the same time I need to be real careful with catching one of those goofy elbows that he throws. He looked pretty solid. He threw a lot of stuff that's, I guess, typical of him. Unorthodox
with some nasty elbows. A lot of kicks.”
On the other hand, Jones spoke about Henderson. According to Jones, Henderson is a really tough opponent to go head to head with. He appreciated Henderson by saying, “Dan Henderson is an awesome opponent. It's just going to be a lot of things to conquer
in this fight.”
According to Jones, Henderson has extreme knockout power, which is an intimidating factor.
Jones, who is known for his vicious elbow shots and his long reach, was unable to knockout Rashad Evans this Saturday at UFC 145 held at the Philips Arena in Atlanta. The match was close but Jones managed to pull out a win over Evans. As for now, Jones will
be preparing for his fight against Henderson. No schedule of the fight has been released yet, but chances are that it will happen probably in August.
