Dan Henderson denies UFC president Dana White’s claims of waiting for Evans-Jones bout – UFC news
Dan Henderson, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, has strongly denied the statement of Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) president Dana White who claimed that he agreed to wait for the result of the upcoming bout between Rashad Evans and
Jon Jones on UFC 145.
In an interview to ESPN.com, Dan said that he did not make any such comments in the media or to anyone else. Henderson was a bit amazed at the statement and said that he does not even know who said this.
Dan commented, “That was never what I said or anything. I don't know who said that, but it wasn't me. My thoughts were I was waiting to see what happened with Rashad [Evans] and Phil Davis. That was the only thing I was going to wait for.”
Henderson, 41, has won numerous laurels and accolades in his professional mixed martial arts career. He has since the inception of his career won 29 brawls out of a total 37. The veteran recently made a winning comeback in UFC brand of mixed martial art
on November 19, 2011 against Mauricio Rua.
Dan, renowned as the Dangerous Dan, stated that his plan was to wait for the UFC 143 clash between Davis and Evans to occur. Henderson said that he wanted to make his move and get a fight against the winning opponent before April or May and it is impossible
for him to wait for the UFC 145 Jones versus Evans event adding that he cannot sit back at all sluggishly for the whole two-month time period.
Henderson revealed that he is totally ready and fit to take on any opponent in fact he is waiting for any one of the two UFC 145 main event brawlers to get injured so that he can take their place.
Dan remarked, “Obviously you can't guarantee that nobody gets hurt. I don't know what the plan is, but I'd fight whoever it is they think would be a good match-up. The problem is there's really nobody right now who fits the bill for a title contention fight
that would make sense to fight me.”
Henderson even mentioned that he is ready to go on for a Dan-Quinton Jackson II and will definitely try his level best to take revenge of his previous defeat. However, for that as well Dan needs to wait at least for two months since Quinton is scheduled
to take on Ryan Bader in UFC 144 on February 26, 2012.
