Dan Jenkins, the newly crowned World Golf Hall of Famer picks on Tiger Woods

Among the five inductees in this year’s World Golf Hall of Fame (WGHOF) is the legendary golf critic and writer Dan Jenkins, who remained part of the sport for several decades in his illustrious writing career.
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Jenkins was associated with the Sports Illustrated and has been known for spot-on predictions and analyses of the game.
Speaking at the press conference at St. Johns County Convention Centre where he was nominated for the coveted Hall of Famer induction, Jenkins spoke on the most-talked-about player in the sport, Tiger Woods and criticised his behaviour in general and his
decision to undergo swing change in particular.
Although Jenkins threw his weight behind the former world number one and hoped Woods will be back to his winning ways and will soon land the 15th major, he remained largely critical of the current scenario.
He said, “Because he’ll be the first guy that ever did it with three swings”.
When asked to compare Woods with the former giants of the sport, Jenkins said:
“I don’t know if it’s true or not, but everybody wants to win and everyone says they want to win, but the great champions absolutely despised the idea of losing. I think that’s what Ben Hogan had, what Arnold had, Jack certainly had it. I frankly don’t know
whether Tiger Woods has it or not because he has never had to come from behind. Every major he won he was in front and everyone, most of them, dropped dead”.
Woods’ recent downslide in the Masters where he posted his lowest finish ever at the Augusta National and was seen kicking his club in desperation and has come under scathing criticism from the former giants of the sport including Paul Azinger, Dan Jenkins
and Aliss.
The famous Talk show host Larry King considers Jenkins as the "the quintessential Sports Illustrated writer" and "the best sportswriter in America." Jenkins has written around 500 articles on the sport in his career and also wrote a novel “Semi-Tough”.
Sally Jenkins, daughter of the renowned writer, also writes on the sport for the Washington Post. Jenkins is inducted in the Lifetime Achievement Category for the WGHOF.
