Dan Petrescu will not leave Dynamo Moscow despite interest from Al-Nasr and Al-Hilal – Football news
Dynamo Moscow head coach, Dan Petrescu, has denied the information that he is set to leave the Russian Premier League club this summer in order to join one of the UAE Pro League clubs i.e. Al-Nasr or Al-Hilal FC respectively.
“I am flattered that my name is linked with different clubs across the world. It means I am doing a good job. However, I do not think anyone will be able to pay me more than what I earn at Dynamo. I have no doubt that I will remain at Moscow. I will stay
because I have signed a valid two-year contract not long ago,” the former Sheffield Wednesday man was quoted as saying.
Reports in Russian media emerged that one of the aforementioned Saudi outfits tried to sign Petrescu after offering the 45-year-old Romanian tactician a reportedly three year contract with an annual salary of more than three million Euros.
It was reported that the leadership of the Arab club entered into negotiations for the signature of the manager, who seems unhappy after failing to help the Louders secure European berth, after meeting with the former Chelsea FC player’s agent on Monday.
“We hope to sign a contract with Petrescu. The transaction is ready to go 90 percent. We are now just waiting for his signature. And if that does not happen, we have another option,” said the representative of the club (Al-Nasr).
Al-Nasr finished on the fourth spot on the league table with 50 points last season. They remained 14 points behind the domestic champions, Al Fateh, and six points behind Al Shabab to qualify for the AFC Champions League.
Al-Nasr will reportedly contact former Real Madrid boss, Bernd Schuster, in case they fail to lure Petrescu away from the Moscow-based club this summer following their disappointing campaign last term.
The club is expected to make an announcement regarding the managerial position within 24 hours.
Petrescu, who left Kuban Krasnodar and replaced Sergei Silkin at Dynamo, assured the fans of fighting for the European spot next season.
