Dan Uggla denies Marlins’ contract extension
When it comes to the sport of baseball, MLB (Major League Baseball) provides top tier entertainment to anyone who seeks the opportunity to become part of the excitement that boils down to the point of satisfaction.
The season may be over and the San Francisco Giants may be topping the list on being the best ball club in the country today, but like any other season there’s a prelude to the action that comes straight from the high paced stadiums in the cities. The free
agents market is open and many teams are in the field, searching for a gold nugget from over 150 players on the list.
On everyone’s wish list are, Jayson Werth, Carl Crawford, Derek Jeter and Cliff Lee. It doesn’t seem strange to see these players in the headlights of many teams as their experience and their stadium presence is strong enough to deter any good club from
coming out strong with the best hitters and pitchers in town.
One recent club to be entangled in the fray is the Florida Marlins. They have been searching for power in the pitching and the batting department but it could be on the losing end soon because some of their top player want to switch sides at the end of the
2011 season.
Dan Uggla may have a strange name to back his credentials but his talents are not unknown in Major League Baseball. The hard hitter was a formidable batsman during the season in the American League. The batter produced a batting average of .287.
The master is 30 years old and his 4 years of experience has seen the Florida man smash many homers out of the park and his contribution on the pitch makes him worthy of a comparison to the Philadelphia Phillies’, Jayson Werth. The big man has hit more than
30 home runs in each of his 4 years on the plate.
In this season alone, Uggla slammed 33 homers across the field. In addition he batted in 105 runs and that makes him a viable asset to the club. However, it has recently been reported by Fox Sports that the player has denied a $48 million contract extension
lasting 4 years. It’s been noted that the player may be welcoming an offer from the Boston Red Sox or the New York Yankees, who seem to be in need for a third batter, a position Dan is willing to adapt to.
