Dan Uggla’s double RBIs help Atlanta Braves defeat Cincinnati Reds 6-4 – MLB Update
Atlanta Braves’ pinch-hitter, Dan Uggla had a notable day with the bat as he had two RBIs and posted just one run with 1-for-1 in the Braves’ 6-4 victory against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati on July 22.
The Reds opened their scoring account in the first inning with one run and got a 1-0 lead. Zack Cozart hit a one-run homer (396 feet) towards left-field. At the top of the second inning, Brooks Conrad struck-out swinging and Eric Hinske got out at second
base. Fred Lewis walked but Drew Stubbs struck-out swinging and Miguel Cairo struck-out bunting foul, at the bottom of the second inning.
In the third inning, the batters got out while playing uneven shots as Nate McLouth was grounded out to first base and Jair Jurrjens grounded out to left-field. Jason Heyward hit a solo homer (434 feet) towards right-field and Brian McCann homered (415 feet)
to right-field to give the Braves a 2-1 lead during the fourth inning.
Conrad lined out to first base and Martin Prado got out to second base at the top of the fifth while the Reds’ batters also struggled with the bat as Ryan Hanigan flied out off centre-field, Bronson Arroyo struck-out swinging and Chris Heisey flied out to
right-field at the bottom of the fifth inning.
During the sixth inning, Alex Gonzalez singled off centre-field and McCann scored a tie run while Hinske was thrown out at home plate. On the other hand, the Reds went ahead 4-3 by blasting three runs. Lewis struck a two-run homer (391 feet) to right-field
and Joey Votto added a single run. Stubbs homered (407 feet) towards left-field to end the three-run campaign for the Reds.
At the top of the seventh inning, Prado hit a tie homer (400 feet) to left-centre and levelled the game 4-4. Jurrjens struck-out nine batters and gave up four runs on four hits with an ERA of 2.44. He permitted four earned runs in his six inning pitches
and allowed three walks with three homers on his 100 pitches.
The Braves took a 6-4 lead during the ninth inning when Uggla homered (415 feet) to right-centre and Gonzalez posted one run to end the game. After this impressive win, the Braves were leading the three-game series 1-0 at Cincinnati.
