Dana White: I'll be negotiating with Anderson and his crew – UFC News
This year was a slow one for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and there are fears that 2013 would be worse. President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White is trying everything he can in order to make the next year fruitful for fans. He has
not just promised some huge fights but he is on his way to make them even grander.
White already made efforts to bring the American Gangster Chael Sonnen against light heavyweight champion Jon Jones next year at The Ultimate Fighter seasons 17. The event has already created a lot of buzz, making it a major event for next year.
Now, the president is looking forward to schedule a fight between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Not just that, White is also trying his level best to bring light heavyweight champion Jon Jones against Silva
in 2013. Although Silva has already said that he will not fight against Jones, White is hopeful that the Brazilian fighter will change his mind.
“ut he's at this point in his career where there are super fights for him. I don't know when it's going to be over for him. But I know this: The Georges St. Pierre fight is a big fight. I think the Jon Jones fight is a big fight,” said White while talking
about Silva’s upcoming opponents.
“I'll be negotiating with Anderson and his crew. He has a contract for two more fights and he said he wants to fight for five more years.”
Surely, Silva has defeated probably every fighter out there in his division and he remains unbeaten. The middleweight champion needs to go the extra mile to ensure fans are enthralled with his fights. As White puts it, it is time for Silva to go for super-fights
against fighters of other divisions.
During the post-fight conference of UFC 153, when Silva defeated Stephan Bonnar, he asserted that he will not fight Jones regardless of what White says. White immediately countered saying he would put a hefty pay cheque to ensure Silva agrees to the showdown.
The president is now on his way to negotiate terms with Silva, hoping the middleweight champion would agree to fight Jones.
