Dana White: It is not fun taking Chael to Brazil – UFC News
Following Chael Sonnen’s controversial remarks regarding Brazilians and Jon Jones, the current UFC light heavyweight champion, Dana White took up the notch to clarify things. In his recent press conference, President of UFC Dana White spoke to the media
regarding Chael Sonnen’s run in UFC, his views and the controversies he has stirred in the recent past.
Chael Sonnen had earlier spoken about Jon Jones capabilities and his possible jump to heavyweight. Sonnen was not polite with his words, but White was. White said, “I just think he's so young. Let me tell you about Jon Jones. Have you every heard Jon Jones
say 'this was a hard cut for me' or seen him go on the scales and look like a skeleton or anything? He makes that cut easy. When you talk about going to heavyweight, you talk about f*cking Junior Dos Santos and guys that are monsters...huge guys. I just think
that he's so young, he's still learning, he's still got a long way to go. I know it's crazy saying that about the champ that's just annihilated every champ in the 205-pound division in UFC history, but he still has a lot to learn.”
Moreover, White spoke about Sonnen’s remarks against Brazilians. According to White, it is not a good idea to take Sonnen to Brazil. He added that he and others in the organisation were confident that Sonnen would stay decent. On UFC’s possible run in Brazil,
which has now been cancelled, White said that he felt he could have taken Sonnen to Brazil but after whatever Sonnen has said regarding it does not seem like he would be comfortable there. According to White, Sonnen’s press conference and his remarks regarding
Brazilians were one of the most ‘surreal’ ones.
Lastly, talking about Jon Jones’ achievements to date, White said that it is great if a guy like Jones, who is so young, is capable of taking down Anderson, Chuck and Rashad. According to White, there was a time when the light heavyweight title switched
hands often but now Jones is dominating it with pride and defeating him will take quite a lot from an opponent.
