Dana White: Mixed Martial Art should be a part of Olympics like Boxing is – UFC News
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, in a recent media interaction, revealed that he wants mixed martial art to be a part of the Olympics in the same manner as Boxing and other brawling sports are adding that he does not believe in
amateur MMA as it is nothing but an unethical way to hold back brawlers due pay.
According to the tidings, Dana, who is in Australia to promote his upcoming pay-per-view, said that he wants the epic, impressive and uncertain sport of MMA to be a part of Olympics adding that it will not only increase the charm of the multi-nation event
but will also help UFC in its expansion.
Dana was of the view that as it happens in boxing where young men strive hard to grab a gold medal and then move in to the professional sport of boxing, similarly same methodology should also be applied with MMA only then will there be a term like ‘amateur
MMA’.
The UFC president commented that there is no way one can argue the inclusion of this sport in the Olympics since it is a merger of different individual brawling sports that are already a part of the Olympic event.
Dana continued and bashed the term amateur and the way promoters are using the terminology to exploit young men. White informed that there is no such thing like amateur MMA and all those brawlers who called themselves amateurs became a part of UFC and won
laurels while performing unbelievable feats.
The rough-tough Dana remarked, “It makes all the sense in the world, first and foremost mixed martial arts is a combination of most of the sports that are already Olympic sports. But I don’t believe in amateur mixed martial arts. There’s no such thing, it’s
BS. What it is, is a way for a promoter to not pay a fighter. That’s what amateur means. It means I don’t have to pay you because I consider you an amateur and I believe there is no real amateur mixed martial arts in this sport.”
The man behind the current UFC, Dana White said that he is satisfied with the way UFC’s live television show ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ is going on and said that the show will be conducted not only in Australia but will also stretch its octagon in Canada, Philippines,
UK, and other countries.
UFC is considered as the flagship organisation who has brought the mixed martial art sport to the next level and has changed its scope altogether.
