Dana White: Rashad Evans will definitely get a title shot if he thrashes Phil Davis – UFC News
UFC President Dana White is aggressive and full of energy nowadays since this Saturday UFC will put forth on fox channel its epic pay-per-view UFC on Fox 2; Rashad vs Davis.
The special edition will be televised from United Center, Chicago, Illinois. Recently Dana White along with a few main event pugilists conducted the final press conference in Chicago on Thursday.
The press conference was going pretty smooth until Rashad Evans lost his temper to lash out at his young emerging opponent Phil Davis. The press conference also witnessed a verbal clash between Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen in which the former clearly
outclassed and outwitted the latter.
After the press conference, White was all open and available to answer the media’s question. In his detailed interview, Dana was asked a few harsh questions as well but he in a cool way not only answered them but also supported his reasoning with a bit of
fact and mentioning of historical events.
In reply to the query as his stand is so stubborn at holding the bout against Anderson Silva in Brazil is so important to him, White explained that there is nothing that much wrong in conducting a main event of such vitality in Brazil since the country is
a Mecca of mixed martial arts and it has produced many prolific fighters who are now wearing several UFC championship belts round their waist.
Dana was of the view that it’s all about controversy, he said that if Chael captures a win over Bisping he will take the Sonnen-Silva bout to Brazil since Sonnen hates it there; he hates to fight in the South American country. In addition he himself is hated
by the Brazilians so why not keep the champ in his home crowd and let him face a challenger who is altogether hated by all and sundry in the arena?
Dana while replying a question related to Rashad Evans said that yes of course if Rashad wins he will definitely get a title shot at Jon Jones since he deserves it. He said that if vice versa happens that is Phil overcomes Evans than there will be a bit
of a problem since Phil will just be in his tenth bout and it’s a bit hard to put him against a title holder while ignoring the remaining high profiled light heavyweights.
When asked about the uniqueness of this card that is bringing together UFC’s most hated fighters in one card, Dana gagged and said, “If I would put Koscheck on the card it would be most hated card ever. Let’s be honest here – Bisping is probably – other
than Koscheck – the most hated guy in the UFC. You have the give the award to Koscheck, but Bisping being a 5-1 underdog? It’s crazy. That’s nuts. This guy fought Evans, Hamill; he’s fought a lot of really good wrestlers. The kid can wrestle and he’s got good
standup and he is good on the ground. He is in no way, shape or form a 5-1 dog.”
Dana was in a really good mood at the post bout conference eve, he also told the media personnel that the reason he has initiated to show the special editions free of cost on Fox TV is simple. He said that people love to see good fights and if those fights
include individuals they hate the most, than there is no other great substitute for them.
He also mentioned a bit of business related competition aspect while corroborating the reason behind the free telecast of UFC on Fox 2. Dana White said in a questioning manner that you tell, who the people will love to see? A bout which is paid and does
not include their favourite brawlers or a brawl which is free and shows them the thrashing of their most hated man?
Apart from all the other questions none made the 42-year-old successful Dana serious except the question about the SOPA anti-p****y bill. Dana was asked that whether the bill is perfect or not? He exasperatedly commented no its not. Dana explained that he
doesn’t know why people think p****y is not like stealing. While giving an example Dana said that stealing a Pay-Per-View (PPV) it the same as stealing gold watch from a store.
He vehemently commended those individuals and even gave an open challenge to those who try to steal UFC’s PPV’s. He said that it’s stealing no matter what you say or how you define stealing taking out a PPV from UFC’s official website without paying is stealing.
He while challenging the hackers said that try to hack our site now and see what happens to you and what consequences you will see. It’s important to mention that on last Sunday ufc.com was hacked by a group of German hackers. The reason put forth in the media
was the alleged support of the SOPA and PIPA anti-p****y bill by UFC’s executive president.
Dana White has brought UFC to a level where it has started to capture millions of viewers in the same manner as WWE, MLB, NFL, or NHL does. The upcoming special edition includes several bouts apart from Rashad, Phil and Sonnen, Bisping bout.
