Dana White: Silva has no knee injuries – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White has denied rumours of a knee injury to Anderson Silva. White clarified the fact that Silva is in the best of health and he will indeed compete at UFC 148 scheduled for June 7 at the MGM Grand Garden
in Las Vegas.
A number of media outlets in Brazil reported Silva with a knee injury, deeming him incompetent for UFC 148. However, White has clarified that all of the claims are just mere rumours. He added, “None whatsoever. That's completely false. Not true at all.”
Silva currently stands with 31 wins and 4 losses in MMA and 14 wins and 0 losses in UFC. On the other hand, his UFC 148 opponent Chael Sonnen stands with 27 wins, 11 losses and 1 tie in MMA and 6 wins and 4 losses in UFC.
Anderson Silva has also Tweeted about the rumours, telling his fans that he is all fit to face Sonnen as planned.
Sonnen and Silva will be meeting in a rematch, headlining UFC 148. The bout was previously scheduled for UFC 147, to take place on June 23 in Brazil, but due to logistic problems, the event was shifted to Las Vegas.
Silva will now be appearing before the Nevada State Athletic Commission to be licensed. According to the Commission, fighters who are over 35 years of age have to appear before the commission in person or via phone to be licensed.
This year has been tough on Silva. He has found himself in several controversies. Earlier this week, news of Silva being sued by Chute Boxe owner Rudimar Fedrigo for damaging the latter’s reputation publicly. On the occasion, Rudimar clarified as to why
he wants to take Silva to the court. “He questioned my qualifications, which is absurd. There is a part in which he says I am a bad person and in another he raises doubts about my gradings...Look, he missed the truth with all of that. Unfortunately I had to
take a decision,” he said.
For now, Anderson Silva is preparing for the big rematch. Sonnen is already in rage and he wants to take on Silva and give him the beating of his life.
