Dana White: UFC 144 Edgar vs. Henderson in Japan will open doors to Asian market – UFC news
Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) owner Dana White is confident about his decision of taking back the whole organisation to Japan and the fact that the bout between Frankie Edgar and Ben Henderson in Tokyo, Japan will be a trump card for UFC in expanding
its roots in the Asian region of the world.
These comments were put forth by Dana in an on-the-spot question and answer session with the media which took place just after the end of the UFC 143 pay-per-view’s pre-fight press conference.
White openly invited the media personnel to ask and share any question, buzz, or reservation that they have in their minds and get up-to-date information on those matters from the management itself.
Dana was overwhelmed by the queries thrown at him but most important ones included his decisions and ambitions regarding the current Japan venture and the resolution of the B. J Pen mystery.
Dana was asked that why he is striving so hard to take the whole show to Japan and go through baseless hectic for the conductance of February 24, 2012 show.
White confidently replied that he is pretty confident that this particular Edgar-Henderson special edition will fulfil two facets of his strategy that is one it will be a comeback in Japan after a passage of long 12 years; second it will be the first step
in expanding the business not only in Japan but in the whole of Asia.
Dana replied, “As far as I know everything is going well over there. You don't know how successful it's going to be until you go. When we pull that event off and we do it and we see how it goes. It's very important. It's a very important show for our intro
into Asia. Not just Japan but China and all the other markets we want to go to over there.”
On the question that whether there is any reality in the rumours that Penn will move on to Dana’s newly acquired Strikeforce brand or not? White said that these all are just rumours since he has just met B. J Penn himself and he is in no mood to fight any
one adding that he also at the moment does not want to put his hands on Gilbert Melendez.
Dana commented, “That's not true. That's absolutely not true. But I have been talking to B.J. Penn. I talked to B.J. Penn last week and it was the first time that B.J. and I talked since his fight. He's just chilling right now. He wants to relax and figure
out what he wants to do with his career.”
UFC143: Diaz vs. Condit pay-per-view will take place tomorrow on Sunday February 4, 2012 and the scheduled men will clash at Mandalay Bay Events Center situated in Las Vegas, Nevada.
