Dana White affirms Riddle’s clash with Hardy – UFC News
President of UFC Dana White has confirmed a fight between Matt Riddle and Dan Hardy. Riddle, who defeated Chris Clements via submission at UFC 149, screamed out loud for a fight with Dan Hardy. While White initially thought it is just another outcry, he
later realised Riddle’s comments took the UFC universe with storm.
Since Riddle has already created the required hype, White is now hopeful of a fight between the two.
“I'm down to fight anybody at any given time, anywhere,” Riddle said at the press conference after the fight.
When asked as to why he challenged Dan, Riddle came up saying, “I just picked Dan Hardy because he's got a lot of hype behind him and I know that it will put me on the map for sure. I have nothing personal against him, but a win over him, I guarantee everybody
knows my name afterwards.”
Adding fuel to the fire was White’s comments, “I heard Riddle hates English people.”
Riddle did not hesitate in speaking the truth, “I will be completely honest, when I fought in Manchester, they were very cruel to me. One fan actually spat directly in my face and he was lucky enough where it hit my mouth.”
White later on clarified his statement saying he was just kidding, but the damage was already done by then.
Even Riddle tried to skip the hype saying he has nothing against English but since he was disrespected, he feels upset with them.
Riddle’s outcry was well supported by White to create hype for a match between Hardy and Riddle. Since White was successful, he now believes a bout between the two should happen for the fans.
White, who knows very well how to create controversy, has made yet another move to spark another future bout. He is already upset with UFC 149’s results and has promised fans a better show in the future. A bout between Riddle and Hardy will not just be a
fight between two fighters, but a showdown between two nations, something White knows will sell very well.
For now, White is full on with the idea of putting Riddle and Hardy in one cage to settle their scores.
